The mill works for the local community benefit promoting health plans, student programs, fumigation campaigns to combat epidemics and environmental studies to avoid contamination. Additionally, it works with provincial and municipal authorities on social programs and emergency situations.

Other important issues

Sewing Workshop Project: It began in June 2010 and consists of thirty people with special abilities and two supervisors. It deals with the mill staff uniforms’ manufacture. The social benefit that meets this project is the workshop member’s life quality improvement, helping with their occupational reintegration into society and renewing their self-esteem.

Agricultural Development Program: It started operations in August 2009 with the purpose of formally tightening and strengthening trade relations with sugarcane growers, attracting new planters and enhancing existing cane hectares. All cane growers participate in the services and benefits of the program through personalized technical advice, free group training, cash loans for maintenance of flowerbeds and agricultural inputs, increasing yields and optimizing profitability ratios in sugarcane production. So far more than a thousand hectares have been recovered by sugar cane farmers who took up business relationship with the mill, achieving a 16% increase in cane production.
